BioRoom Suite 3a with Jareth the Goblin King
Voicemail 555-QUEN
Background: Sarah’s mother left her and her father for an actor she worked with when she was 13 years old and her father remarried a woman she didn’t particularly like, her father and step mother then had another child, Toby who Sarah sometimes had to look after. She immersed herself in a fantasy world based on her favourite book, ’The Labyrinth’ as a get away from her real life (where she had few real friends) and one night at the age of 15 Sarah was left in charge of her baby brother yet again by her parents, feeling terribly put upon by this she called the goblins to take her brother away, claiming the Goblin King had fallen in love with her and would do anything for her, they actually arrived and took him to the castle beyond the goblin city. Given 13 hours to save him, by Jareth the Goblin King she had to make her way through the labyrinth, a maze where nothing was as it seemed and was full of traps, she was helped by various creatures she met along the way however and found her way to the castle after being poisoned and fighting against the goblin army, At the castle Jareth offered to be her slave, if he would do as she said. Refusing him she returned to her home with her brother. Six years later at the age of 21 even though she has dreams of that day, and of the friends she made there she believes that’s all it was a dream, although she has noticed an familiar looking owl outside her window many times over the years. Having recently graduated from a performing arts college, she has been struggling to find an acting job with little luck and has been working as a waitress, trying to earn enough money to move to LA away from her family, whom she still doesn’t get on all that well with.
Personality: Sarah is strong willed, stubborn, intelligent and passionate. She also has a vivid imagination and while she can be mature at times, she can also be quite childish, making up stories and playing games etc. She often lives in her own dream world even at 21. She is very caring (as evidenced by the way she treats the creatures in the Labyrinth) and concerned for people’s (or perhaps more accurately animals and mythical creatures) well being. She does not take kindly to being taken advantage of and is a little anti social, preferring to spend time in her fantasy world and reading. Since she doesn’t realise what happened in the Labyrinth however, she still resents her half brother and step mother for having to look after him for so many years and desperately wants to be independent. However once she meets Jareth this is likely to change and she will appreciate how important her family is. She is also ambitious.
